Visiting the Berlin TV Tower

I woke up around noon and decided to visit the Berlin TV Tower (Fernsehturm) at Alexanderplatz.
Instead of my usual U3, I took the U2 from Bülowstraße toward Pankow, getting off at Alexanderplatz.
If you’re coming from Berlin Central Station, take U5 (Kaulsdorf-Nord direction) and get off at the same stop.
The tower looks strikingly different from Japan’s TV towers—it’s made of concrete, not steel, and stands on a surprisingly slim base.
Minimalist but powerful, it feels more like a space-age monument than a tourist attraction.
After a few photos, I headed for the day’s main mission: Decathlon.
Shopping at Decathlon: Mission “Extra Bag”

Decathlon stores are everywhere in Europe, known for affordable sports and travel gear.
This time, I needed a carry-on bag for my upcoming flight to France.
With easyJet, the base fare only includes one small item that fits under the seat, not a full suitcase.
I’d already paid extra for checked luggage but could tell my bag still wouldn’t fit everything.
Time to find a lightweight backup.
Inside the Massive Alexanderplatz Decathlon
The Alexanderplatz branch is enormous—covering multiple floors with sections for running, cycling, camping, and fishing gear.
Temptation was real, but I went straight to the luggage section.
In the end, I decided to skip the paid “carry-on” upgrade and bought a compact personal item-sized bag instead.
Fits under the seat, no extra fees, problem solved.

Takeaway:
You don’t need a packed itinerary to finish strong.
Sometimes a bit of gear shopping and a good view are the best way to close a trip.
